Preschool & Kindergarten Enrollment

Enrollment Information

Calhoun County Universal Preschool now has enrollment packets available for parents to enroll their children in Pre-K or Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year. Enrollment packets may be picked up at Arnoldsburg Elementary, Pleasant Hill Elementary, DOHS or Calhoun County Board of Education during school hours. The registration fairs are held to assist families in getting the necessary documentation for starting school. We will conduct, hearing, vision, and dental screenings at the event and have stations for students to visit.

All children who are 4 years old before July 1, 2026, are eligible to apply for enrollment in Pre-school.
All children who are 5 years old before July 1, 2026, are enrolled in Kindergarten.

Calhoun County Schools will be conducting Pre-Registration on the following dates:

Friday, March 6th, 2026, at Calhoun County Middle High School from 9AM-2:30 PM

Please call Saundra Ballengee at 304-354-6022 ext. 402 or Jackie Allen at 304-655-8616 ext. 110 to schedule an appointment. If school is canceled or delayed, registration will be rescheduled for March 13th at CCMHS maintaining scheduled appointment times.

All children applying for preschool must have the following documents before the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year.

· Pre-K Universal Application

· Certified Birth Certificate (Vital Statistics Certificate from Charleston only)
· Immunization Record
· Preventative Health Screen (Well Child)
· Dental check
· Hemoglobin test (available through your physician)
· Lead Screen
· Proof of Income (W2, 1040, or proof of Government Assistance)

Completed preschool packets are due by the date of the registration fairs. Packets will be accepted after the fair, however classroom preference is honored by dates of received application.

Any child; from birth to three, thought to have developmental delays, is also eligible to be screened for possible services.

Good evening and good news. Calhoun County Summer School Camps will continue at Arnoldsburg Elementary School tomorrow. Just as a reminder, Art Cart will be here Wednesday through Friday of this week with fun and engaging art lessons for grades 6 through 11. If you didn't get a chance to sign up there is still room. We look forward to seeing you there. Also, as a reminder there will be Hunter's Safety classes at AES on July 28th and 29th. There is also still room for students to attend Hunter's Safety.

Pleasant Hill 4th Grade Families Tomorrow, Monday, May 18th our 4th grade students will participate in Transition Day at CMHS as they prepare for the exciting move to middle school! Students will depart Pleasant Hill Elementary by bus at 11:10 AM and travel to CMHS for a day filled with learning and new experiences. Students will tour the campus, learn about CMHS expectations, meet student services staff, attend related arts, and enjoy lunch and recess with CMHS students. Students will ride their regular buses home from CMHS unless they are parent pick-up. Parent pick-up will take place at the back entrance of CMHS at 3:30 PM. We are excited for our students to experience a glimpse of middle school life and all the opportunities ahead!

📚✏️Important message from Nurse Autumn to new students and families at Calhoun County Schools!✏️📚 ☺️And reminders for students returning to school that have current medication or diet orders on file, you must have NEW orders for the new school year of 2026-2027☺️ As we prepare for the upcoming school year, please remember these important health reminders: 💊 Medications at School: If your child needs medication during the school day (including prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, inhalers, EpiPens, creams, ointments), we must have a completed Medication Order for Calhoun County Schools Form signed by: ✔️ the prescribing provider ✔️ the parent/guardian Please note: All medications must be supplied by the parent/guardian (including OTC medications) and dropped off at the school by a parent/guardian. Students are not permitted to transport medications of any kind on the bus or to school unsupervised. 🥗 Special Dietary Needs / Allergies: If your child has food allergies or special dietary needs, please submit a completed Special Dietary Needs Medical Statement Form signed by: ✔️ a healthcare provider ✔️ the parent/guardian Having these forms completed before school starts helps us provide the safest care possible for your child. Students who require emergency medications (including but not limited to inhalers, EpiPens, and emergency seizure medications) must have orders and medications dropped off at the nurse's office before the first day of school. Students who do not have appropriate medical documentation and medications will not be able to attend school until these are provided to the school nurse.
