Enrollment Information
Calhoun County Universal Preschool now has enrollment packets available for parents to enroll their children in Pre-K or Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year. Enrollment packets may be picked up at Arnoldsburg Elementary, Pleasant Hill Elementary, DOHS or Calhoun County Board of Education during school hours. The registration fairs are held to assist families in getting the necessary documentation for starting school. We will conduct, hearing, vision, and dental screenings at the event and have stations for students to visit.
All children who are 4 years old before July 1, 2026, are eligible to apply for enrollment in Pre-school.
All children who are 5 years old before July 1, 2026, are enrolled in Kindergarten.
Calhoun County Schools will be conducting Pre-Registration on the following dates:
Friday, March 6th, 2026, at Calhoun County Middle High School from 9AM-2:30 PM
Please call Saundra Ballengee at 304-354-6022 ext. 402 or Jackie Allen at 304-655-8616 ext. 110 to schedule an appointment. If school is canceled or delayed, registration will be rescheduled for March 13th at CCMHS maintaining scheduled appointment times.
All children applying for preschool must have the following documents before the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year.
· Pre-K Universal Application
· Certified Birth Certificate (Vital Statistics Certificate from Charleston only)
· Immunization Record
· Preventative Health Screen (Well Child)
· Dental check
· Hemoglobin test (available through your physician)
· Lead Screen
· Proof of Income (W2, 1040, or proof of Government Assistance)

Any child; from birth to three, thought to have developmental delays, is also eligible to be screened for possible services.

📚✨ Our first night of reading was a great success! ✨📚
As you can see, The Wishtree reading was a great fun for students from each grade level. They answered questions about the first chapters they read. Students who submitted correct answers had their names entered for a chance to win a prize—and several lucky readers were drawn!
📖 Reminder for tonight: Our goal is to read Chapters 5–8. Be ready to answer the questions when Mrs. Haught comes around for your chance to win a prize tomorrow!

👨👩👧 Who: Pleasant Hill students, families, teachers, and staff
🏫🏠 Where: At school and at home
Each family will receive a copy of the book to enjoy together at home. Students will answer daily comprehension questions, and fun prizes will be given out in each homeroom throughout the week!

We wanted to send a quick reminder about parent drop‑off and pick‑up procedures to help keep all of our students safe during arrival and dismissal.
🚗 Parent Drop‑Off & Pick‑Up:
Please pull all the way to the end of the parking lot closest to the school high tunnel when dropping off or picking up your child.
🅿️ Staff Parking:
Staff members park at the end of the lot closest to the main entrance, so we ask parents to avoid that area during busy times.
🚌 Bus Safety:
For everyone’s safety, please do not pull in between buses. They are actively loading and unloading students, and entering that space creates a serious safety concern.

Pleasant Hill School will be participating in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
NAEP is a nationwide assessment that helps educators understand what students across the country know in subjects like mathematics and reading. Selected students will take either a math or reading assessment and may also answer short voluntary survey questions about their learning experiences.
🕒 Time Commitment:
The assessment will take about 120 minutes, including directions and survey questions
.
📝 Important Notes:
No studying is required.
This will NOT affect your child's grades.
Students may skip any question or choose not to participate.
We appreciate your support as our students help represent schools across the nation! 🌟
