
The Calhoun County BOE meeting, originally scheduled for this evening, January 16th, has been rescheduled to Thursday, January 18th, 2024 at 5:30 PM at the board office.


Calhoun Schools will be cancelled on Tuesday January 16th 2024. We will operate on a Code Blue.

On January 11th-13th, Emily Grace Anderson, 17, competed with 82 girls from around the state in the West Virginia Association of Fairs and Festivals pageant. She competed in 3 phases of competition event promo, personal interview, and evening gown, earning her spot in the top 15. After her onstage question she advanced to the top 5 winning 1st runner up. Emily is the Reigning Miss Parkersburg Homecoming and Calhoun’s own 61st Queen Flora. Emily is a senior at Calhoun Middle High School and is the Student body president and the President of the National Honor Society. Emily is the daughter of Shannon and Trudi Anderson and Grandaughter of Dwane and Nancy Weekley. Emily would like to thank her community and family and friends for the continued support. Congratulations, Emily, on all of your hard work and accomplishments!

The Varsity Girls basketball game vs Webster for tonight has been cancelled.
The boys basketball game at Parkersburg Catholic will be varsity only and tip-off is scheduled for 6:00pm.
Middle school girls vs Ritchie at home is still on as of now. 6pm JV and varsity to follow.


Reminder: Today is the Scholarship and Financial Aid event at CMHS. We will begin at noon in the auditorium. We will discuss local scholarships, state and federal financial aid programs as well as set up FAFSA ID accounts. Parents/guardians are encouraged to attend.

Calhouns' Mat Men travelled to the Pat Vance Invitational in Nitro January 5-6. These students in the CMHS Middle School Band auditioned for the new annual Middle School Allstate Band and have earned the following rankings.

Lilly Falls – Flute 46th – She has played flute for one year.
Danika Starcher – Flute 20th – She has played flute for two years.
Lydia Starcher – Trumpet 34th – She has played trumpet for two years.
Halle Lawson – Bass Clarinet 5th – She has played Clarinet/Bass Clarinet three years.
Jasmyne Tingler – Oboe – 1st – She has played Clarinet for two years and Oboe since August! Jasmyne will be sitting in the first row of the 2024 middle school Allstate band and serve as the first chair oboe!
Brody Richards – Tenor Sax 14th – Brody has been playing Alto/Tenor sax for three years.
Rylan Smith – Alto Sax 10th – Rylan has been playing for two years.
Micah McHenry – Percussion 3rd – Micah has been playing percussion for two years. Micah will be serving as 3rd chair of the 2024 middle school Allstate band.
We are so proud of our students! They continue to show that we have dedicated, talented, and capable students. Whether we are going to band competitions, ratings adjudications, Solo and ensemble, or Allstate, Calhoun county students are ranking among the very best in the state of WV. Congratulations to you all, you are representing Calhoun county on the big stage!


Bus 14 Marshal Bever is running about 30 minutes behind schedule.

Due to the West Virginia Department of Highway changing the weight limit on the green bridge on Rt.7 that cross Steer Creek, we will not be able to cross the bridge. Bus #2 will be turning at the wide spot near Sassafras Road at 7:10 am and in the afternoon at 4:15 pm. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

The High School Wrestling team spent the last 2 days competing in Lewis County at the Mcfly Outdoors Wrestling Tournament. The following wrestlers placed: 106- Reese Schoolcraft-Champion 🥇 113- Lance Grogg-4th 138-Joe Nelson-4th 150-Wyatt Nichols-3rd 157- Haiden Staton-Champion🥇 165-Jobe Loudin-5th 175- Sam Elmore-2nd Landon Sampson-6th HWT- Levi Stump-4th The team placed 4th overall.
